Injured Pigeon

I live in Riverside, California. I'm looking for a home for a pigeon that I found in the street completely soaked in some kind of sticky substance. I brought it home, bathed it 3 times. The bird is now clean and healthy. I cannot keep this pigeon. I do not have adequate accommodations. He is in a large bird cage. I would like to release him but am not sure where or how.

I have pictures if someone is interested in taking this pigeon. I would like him to continue his life in a more appropriate enviorment. I hate to take him back to the place where I found him but like I said am unsure of what to do.

Does anyone have any advise or could anyone take on this bird who has other birds. He seems lonely, has a healthy appetite and is ready to fly.
